Dr. Burton Rankie is a native to the area. He grew up in North Conway, NH and spent his summers in Bridgton, ME. His approach is warm, relaxed and patient-centered and he is committed to providing the highest quality orthodontic care to your entire family. Patients can be assured that their treatment will be based on a careful diagnosis of their orthodontic needs, cutting edge technology, and informed decision-making. Dr. Rankie is available for consultation and support on an ongoing basis.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Orthodontics and Oralfacial Orthopedics Specialist
Dr. Rankie earned his post-doctorate Orthodontics and Oralfacial Orthopedics specialty degree at the prestigious Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Rochester NY. While at Eastman, Dr. Rankie was a staff member of the Strong Memorial Hospital and a valued member of their multidisciplinary Cleft and Craniofacial Treatment Team.
Doctorate of Dental Surgery
Dr. Rankie completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2010, where he graduated first in his class. During his four years at Buffalo, he was elected class president, earned multiple awards for excellence, served on several professional committees, and was hired by the University to provide academic and pre-clinical tutoring for dental students.
NIH Dental and Craniofacial Research
Dr. Rankie completed several months of research at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, MD while an undergraduate at Colgate University. He presented his research findings at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) Calcium and Cell Function Conference. He also completed a research fellowship at Colgate University.
Professional Honors
Dr. Rankie’s professional honors include the prestigious American Association of Orthodontics Award (2010), induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, and multiple merit-based scholarships and fellowships.

Invisalign and Professional Lecturing
Dr. Rankie has lectured nationally and internationally on treatment with Invisalign. He frequently presents lectures to dentists in the community for which the dentists earn their required continuing education credits from the State of Maine. Additionally, Dr. Rankie lectures as part of the Dental Careers Institute.
Community Involvement
Dr. Rankie has a long history of community service including “Give Kids a Smile Day” and “Dentists Who Care” (providing free dental care to children in the community), “Children’s Dental Health Month” (dental awareness volunteer), “Smile Education Day” (educating elementary school children in oral hygiene), and the “Ride for Roswell” (cancer fundraiser and activity participant), and mentorship of elementary and middle school students.
Personal Interests
Dr. Rankie is an avid outdoorsman, he enjoys hiking, surfing, cycling, skiing, swimming, boating, and fishing throughout New England. He can often be found hiking, skiing, fishing or lobstering with friends, family, and Abbi, his golden retriever.
